This year we have finally been able to welcome our new starters from local primary schools into Shipston High School for an Induction Day. The new academic year sees our largest Year 7 intake yet, with 130 students being divided between five form groups.
Induction gives a real chance for the new Year 7s to make a good start to their transition from Primary school and has many benefits including starting to learn the geography of the school site, school procedures, meeting new teachers, making new friends and sampling the cuisine in the school canteen.
After meeting their Form Tutor and having an initial tour of the school with the prefects our 130 began work in the classroom, sampling lessons such as Science, History, English and Spanish.
The Parents’ meeting that took place that evening gave new parents a chance to meet some key staff from school, hear two very impressive presentations from current Year 7 students Aidan and Sophie who also treated everyone to a catwalk performance to demonstrate the Shipston High School uniform.
We are very much looking forward to working with our new cohort next term.
