Transition Events and Induction Programme

Transition and Induction Programme

At our school, we are committed to ensuring that every student and family feels confident, informed, and excited about the move to secondary school. Our comprehensive transition programme provides a range of opportunities for students and parents to get to know our school community before September.

Open Evening

Our annual Open Evening is the perfect opportunity for prospective students and their families to experience life at our school. Visitors can explore the school, meet teachers and current students, and discover the wide range of opportunities available. Departments showcase their curriculum and activities, giving families a real insight into learning and enrichment across the school.

Open Morning

Following our Open Evening, families are invited to attend our Open Morning. These visits allow parents and students to see the school in action on a normal working day, providing a valuable opportunity to experience the atmosphere of lessons, corridors, and daily school life.

Induction Day

At the beginning of July, students joining us in September take part in the National Induction Day. This is an exciting opportunity for students to spend the day at their new school, experience a range of lessons, meet their tutor group, and get to know key members of staff who will support them throughout their secondary education.

Parents’ Information Evening

Following Induction Day, we host a Parents’ Information Evening. This event enables parents and carers to meet key staff members and receive important information about starting secondary school, helping to ensure that everyone feels prepared for September.

Friendship and Transition Events

We understand that moving to secondary school can be both exciting and challenging. To help students build new friendships and reduce any anxieties, we offer a number of additional transition events throughout the summer term.

Activities Evening

Students can choose from a range of enjoyable activities designed to encourage teamwork, confidence, and friendship-building. Previous activities have included pizza making, football, arts and crafts, and puppet making.

Inflatables Evening

One of the highlights of the year is our famous Inflatables Evening, held as part of our Enrichment Week. Students are invited back to school to enjoy a fun-filled evening on our inflatable assault course while spending time with their future classmates in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Links with Primary Schools

Throughout the year, we work closely with our feeder primary schools and welcome younger pupils to visit us for a variety of events. These include sporting competitions, STEM activities, cultural celebrations, and a range of curriculum-focused enrichment days. These opportunities help students become familiar with our school and begin building confidence before they join us.

We are proud of the care and support we provide during the transition process and look forward to welcoming every new student into our school community.
