At Shipston High we recognise the importance of physical activity and believe that all students should enjoy sport. We strongly believe that every pupil should make the most of the opportunities available to them and on that basis have put together a range of extra curricular clubs to suit all.
We offer clubs in the following activities throughout the year (these are updated on a termly basis)
Basketball, netball, football, rugby, dance, table-tennis, hockey, cross-country running, athletics, tennis, rounders, cricket and soft ball.
We also offer students the opportunity to participate in inter-school fixtures in most sports, and for those that attend regularly to training and excel at their chosen sport we attend county and national competitions. Last term we attended the National Hockey Competition in Nottingham and entered students for the National Cross County Finals and Warwickshire Athletics.
Students should always refer to the teamsheet of any fixture that they are involved in for full details. These will be up on the notice board in the PE department a week before the date of the fixture. Members of the PE department will make students aware of any changes. Our parent app – TeamUp – will show the full term calendar for all fixtures. You can view this here
Students will have the opportunity to attend school trips for sporting events, either to watch or participate. Our upcoming trip to the Netherlands will see students enjoying 3 days of hockey playing against local teams, and the trip to Edgbaston Cricket Club will see students engaging in interactive workshops in sports business, coaching, media and science.
You can keep up to date with all PE news and student successes on our X page @ShipstonPEDept or through our monthly PE newsletters.
