On Monday 24th January, our Year 10 Food Technology classes took part in a Careers event with the Royal Navy Catering Services Branch.

Students were given a presentation explaining the roles of the Catering Service Branch, career opportunities, service life, educational gains, sporting and social opportunities and a general oversight into a career in the Royal Navy.

Students were divided into team

s for a Master Chef Style lesson where they were given a box of ingredients and a recipe with the aim of creating two dishes (Main and Dessert) within an allocated time frame. Teams then had to serve the dishes and once completed, present them to the Navy team. This activity proved a fun and enjoyable way to exercise student initiative, teamwork, communication and time keeping skills.

This event was really informative but also a huge amount of fun, the students thoroughly enjoyed it, and most of the food was delicious!
